The word “Sonoma” combines roots from Greek (soma, meaning “body”) and Latin (sonus, meaning “sound”). The work of the award-winning choreographer Marcos Morau for his company La Veronal stems from the need to return to the roots, to the body, to the flesh. It draws inspiration from the dreamlike world of Luis Buñuel and borrows elements from folk traditions, religion, cinema, and art history. The bodies of the dancers on stage become conduits for a journey between dream and imagination, where the human meets the supernatural.
