Workshop of Greek Music
Natural and not pretentious at all, with a great sense of humour, a master of rhyme, a virtuoso. A real “lord of the everyday people and popular life”, Yorgos Zambetas still remains, thirty years after his death, a legend of the rembetiko and folk music. The evening proposed to us by the Workshop of Greek Music and Lena Alkaiou is dedicated to the composer who has written more than 250 songs, all of which were big hits. The recognized singer with the genuine popular voice that characterizes her will present beloved songs, such as “Ta dilina” (The sunsets), “Ta ximeromata” (The hours before the dawn), “Den ehei dromo na diabo” (There is no street for me to pass), “O alitis” (The tramp), spreading light both to the extrovert and the more sentimental aspects of the important creator.
